The North Tower project was an expansion of OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center through the construction of a 144,247 square-foot, four story bed tower attached to the existing hospital building. It houses 78 private rooms for medical and surgical beds.
The North Tower was a very large healthcare construction project with multiple trades and a compressed schedule. Tie-ins of existing mechanical systems where the building was being expanded had to be carefully coordinated.
Automated Logic controls were added to a new chilled water system, hot water system, 5 air handling units and more than 220 VAV terminals. The pillow speakers in each of the private rooms are interfaced by the Automated Logic system and allow the patients to control their temperature setpoints from their bed.
The extension of the ministry-wide OSF WebCTRL front-end allows the facility staff to easily monitor and control the addition. Due to the implementation of advanced control and efficiency techniques, the project was named Automated Logic’s “2017 Midwest Project of the Year.”
