The Challenge
CEFCU constructed a new 4-story office building in 1992 to house their corporate operations. The temperature controls system installed at that time was manufactured by Johnson Controls. This legacy N2 system began to lose functionality when the gateway device (NCM) began to fail. CEFCU needed a path forward to an open and scalable building automation system. Automated Logic WebCTRL was an easy choice.
The Process
ECSI furnished, installed, and configured the Automated Logic WebCTRL software. Automated Logic LANgate routers were installed to communicate with the legacy N2 field bus networks that were installed in the building. ECSI developed custom programming to control the existing hardware and provide CEFCU with a high level of user operability.
The Result
The powerful graphical interface of WebCTRL allows the end-users to quickly identify problem areas in the building before receiving comfort complaints from the office occupants. Ease of scheduling using WebCTRL has allowed CEFCU to implement custom schedule instances and curb their overall energy usage on a daily basis. Supply air temperature and pressure reset strategies were also put in place on the six VAV style air handling units to help reduce duct pressure/noise and unnecessary reheating of conditioned air.
